Webster Tops the Times

CERTINA Formula Renault UK official pre season testing

Mark Burdett Motorsport’s Josh Webster was fastest today at Norfolk’s Snetterton circuit completing the final of two day’s official testing prior to the start of the CERTINA Formula Renault UK Championship. The eighteen-year-old Team UK driver laid down the marker late in the afternoon session driving the ‘300’ layout.

In a day of improving weather conditions, it was drivers Webster and Fortec Motorsport’s Jake Dennis regularly heading the timing sheets.

Racing Step Foundation Dennis had a strong day, finishing top of the table in the morning session and jostling for the top spot throughout the afternoon.

Stepping up to the main championship in 2012, Josh Hill proved to be the next challenger, maintaining a top three position for the duration of the day. Fellow Fortec stable-mates Dan de Zille and Shahaan Engineer improved steadily as the day went on continuing to break in their new machinery.

There was plenty of running on the 2.96 mile circuit making up for the washout conditions of yesterday and good progress was made by each driver putting some essential mileage under their belts. All achieved good times on long runs on used tyres.

With little over three weeks to go before the career launching single championship bursts back into action there is plenty of buzz and speculation building as to who will be the one to watch. Indeed there are still teams yet to announce their plans to strengthen the already highly competitive starting grid.

Further official testing travels to Oulton Park next week (13/14 Mar). The opening rounds of the CERTINA Formula Renault UK Championship take place at Brands Hatch (31 Mar/1 Apr).
